The WAFP externship was a great way to learn about and appreciate family medicine. I enjoyed spending time in the clinics and seeing the wide-range scope of practice a family medicine doctor experiences. The doctors were very instructive, and allowed me to perform several procedures, from joint injections to helping with deliveries. I feel very prepared for my clinical rotations.
I also enjoyed working with the Foundation on their advocacy agenda items. We spent a day at the capitol building speaking to legislators about family medicine and bills pertaining to physicians. The externship taught me a lot and solidified my interest in family medicine. The national conference was a great way to learn much about all the skills that family medicine doctors have and to see the residency programs. Thank you, WAFP, for the educational summer! - Vince Borkowski, UW, 2017
