Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians - Foundation
Students To National Conference
The call for dedicated, caring family doctors in Wisconsin is more important now than ever before

Applications are now open for 2025!

The Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians-Foundation is pleased to announce that we will be providing $800 scholarships for Wisconsin medical students to attend the AAFP FUTURE Conference (formally National Conference) on July 31-August 2, 2025 in Kansas City!

Scholarships are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for students at each of Wisconsin’s medical schools. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2025.

Additionally, the AAFP-Foundation offers $600 scholarships to different categories of students–Early Career Student (Rising M1-M3), Student (Rising M4), and Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) Leaders.

Students who apply for scholarships must be a member of AAFP/WAFP. Student membership is free and applications can be completed online.

*Note: Applicants for WAFP - Foundation scholarships must also apply for an AAFP scholarship. AAFP scholarships supersede WAFP-F scholarships, so students can only receive one scholarship to the conference. Students who receive an AAFP scholarship will be eligible for a $200 supplemental scholarship from WAFP-F to ensure all students are given the same opportunities.

Dedication

The call for dedicated, caring family doctors in Wisconsin is more important now than ever before as there are growing concerns about the future workforce. In an effort to engage and educate medical students about the opportunities in family medicine, the WAFP-Foundation is aiming to send 50 students to the 2025 National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.

Importance

We all know the importance of this project in ensuring a strong future for family medicine in Wisconsin. As an academy, we have a significant influence in determining the success of this campaign. In eleven years of supporting this program, we have provided funding for 442 students to attend the National Conference, and 87% of those students have matched in Family Medicine. That is an incredible return on investment!
